We are a yacht charter company, based in Thessaloniki, Northern Greece, offering yachting experiences and holidays, both sailing and motor cruising in Greece. All our members have a real passion for sailing and their own yachts.
That matters more than people think. When you own and run boats yourself, you notice every small noise, every pump, every line that needs replacing. You also know what guests actually need on board, from shade at anchor to an easy ladder for the swim stops, and a cockpit that feels comfortable for a long lunch.
Our local team of skippers, travel agents and scuba instructors with over 20 years of experience in Halkidiki is here to help you.
We are a member of Sailbus Sailboat owner’s coalition that aims to help travellers find directly the yacht skipper/owners, without any middleman, and take advantage of both precise information about sailing holidays as well as better prices. Also founding members of S.I.E.P.A. the owners of the professional tourist yachts Association of Northern Greece.
For you, this means clear communication and realistic planning. We will tell you what works in a day, what needs more time, and what is better left for a calmer forecast. If you are coming with kids or older family members, we also take that into account early, not at the dock when everyone is already tired.
We have a passion for yacht maintenance and we spend all winter preparing for the summer.
Winter in Halkidiki is when the real work gets done. Engines are serviced, sails are checked, safety gear is inspected, and we test everything that can ruin a holiday if it fails at sea. It is not glamorous, but it is why the boat feels solid when you step on board in July.
Where we are, and how to reach us
Halkidiki sits in Northern Greece, just southeast of Thessaloniki, with the three well-known peninsulas of Kassandra, Sithonia, and the Athos coast. Most guests fly into Thessaloniki International Airport (SKG), then drive down. Depending on where you stay and where the boat is based, the drive is usually about one to two hours. In high season, plan extra time for traffic, parking, and the last supermarket stop.
If you want to understand the region a bit before you arrive, the official tourism site for Greece is a good start: https://www.visitgreece.gr/. For weather planning, the Hellenic National Meteorological Service is the reference we also check: https://www.hnms.gr/.
Timetables, opening hours and routes can change without notice. Always double-check locally before you travel.
What we can arrange for your trip
Every group is different, so we keep the options flexible. Some clients want a skipper and a relaxed route with swim stops. Others want to build miles and practise sailing. We can also support travel agents and yacht agents who need a reliable local partner in Northern Greece.
- Private day cruises for couples, families, and small groups, with plenty of time for swimming and snorkeling.
- Multi-day sailing holidays around Halkidiki, with nights in marinas or quiet bays depending on the plan and conditions.
- Bareboat charter guidance if you already have the right license and experience, and you want local tips that are actually useful.
- Group bookings and special occasions, including proposals and low-key celebrations on board.
Sea and outdoor activities depend on the weather and your own fitness level. Always follow local safety advice and skipper instructions.
If you want to talk through dates, boat types, and what is realistic for your group, use this and we will come back with options that fit your style.

Seasonal feel in Halkidiki
From May to early June you get fresh water, greener landscapes, and usually fewer crowds. July and August are hot, busy, and lively, with warm sea temperatures and full marinas on weekends. September is my personal favourite for sailing. The sea is still warm, the light is softer, and you can often find better quiet anchorages if you start early. October can still be beautiful, but you need to be more flexible with weather windows, so keep a buffer day if you can.
If you are travelling around big Greek holidays, it helps to plan ahead. Orthodox Easter shifts each year, and it affects road traffic and availability in the region.

Why charter a yacht in Greece
Yachting in Greece is a worldwide destination every summer, with more than 2,000 islands and an endless coastline to discover. No matter which destination you will choose, every place has to offer all you need for the perfect holiday. Important historical sites from ancient Greek history, endless coasts and naturally protected bays for anchorage, water sports such as diving, fishing, windsurfing, safe waters and mild winds for easy sailing but also places with strong winds for extreme sailing, dolphins, sea turtles and seals for sea life observing eco holidays and of course a lot of sun, great food, wine and exciting nightlife.
Greece is not one type of sailing. The Ionian is often calmer and greener. The Cyclades can be windy and more demanding. Up here in Northern Greece, Halkidiki is a sweet spot for mixed groups because you can usually find a bay with protection, and you can combine sailing with easy land access for supplies and tavernas. If the forecast changes, you have options, which is a big deal when you are travelling with friends and family.
There is no need to be in a hotel room, stuck in one place only. Take the opportunity to find out why Greece is considered to be the best holiday and yachting destination.
A yacht gives you privacy, shade, and your own front-row seat to the coastline. You wake up in a new view, you swim before breakfast, and you can stay longer in places that feel right. It is also surprisingly social when you want it to be. A small harbour walk in the evening, a simple dinner, then back to the boat for a quiet drink under the stars. Nothing complicated, just good living.
Halkidiki routes that work well
We do not sell fantasy itineraries. We build routes around distance, wind, and what your group enjoys. In Halkidiki, a lot depends on whether you are focusing on Kassandra, Sithonia, or the Athos coast. Each area has its own feel, and the sea state can change quickly between open water and sheltered gulfs.
- Easy family day sail: short legs, protected bays, long swim stops, and an early return so kids are not exhausted.
- Couples and small groups: a bit more sailing time, a sunset stop, and a harbour evening if you want a walk and a proper meal.
- Mixed skill groups: we can add some sailing practice, anchoring technique, and route planning without turning it into a lesson.
Water clarity is usually best on calm mornings, especially outside the busiest weeks. By mid-afternoon in August, you can get more boat traffic near popular bays, so we often start earlier to enjoy the quiet sea. This is the kind of small detail that makes the day feel smooth, not rushed.
What to do on board and ashore
Most guests come for swimming, sun, and that feeling of space you only get offshore. We can also point you to diving options through our local network, and if you are into marine life, keep your eyes open. You might spot dolphins on a crossing, and sometimes sea turtles too. It is never guaranteed, but it happens often enough that kids keep scanning the horizon the whole trip.
On land, Halkidiki is about simple pleasures. Fresh seafood, grilled meats, local salads, and chilled white wine. If you are interested in culture and history, Thessaloniki is close and worth a visit before or after your cruise. The city is a UNESCO-listed destination for its early Christian and Byzantine monuments: https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/456/. For a general overview of the Halkidiki region, including geography and background, Wikipedia is a decent quick reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chalkidiki.
charterayacht.gr is ready to provide you with top-quality chartering services and information according to your own plans for a perfect holiday. Our yachts are fully equipped and safe, and our skippers are very experienced and ready to take you on a sea journey you will never forget.
When you book with us, you are not just picking a boat from a list. You are getting local handling, local support, and a skipper who knows how the wind behaves around the capes and where the sea gets choppy when it turns. We also help with the practical stuff people forget, like what to pack for a day sail, how to avoid sunburn on a breezy day, and why soft bags matter on a yacht. Small things, but they make a differnce.
Choosing between sailing yacht and motor yacht
Sailing is quiet, classic, and perfect when you want the journey to be part of the holiday. Motor cruising is great when you want to cover more distance in a day, or when your group prefers a stable schedule with longer time at anchor. In Halkidiki, both work well. The best choice depends on your pace, your budget, and how much you care about sailing time versus destination time.
If you are unsure, tell us what kind of day you imagine. More swimming, more moving, more sailing, more comfort. We will suggest what fits, without pushing you into the wrong boat.
Do not hesitate, to see your yachting options and make your choices from the menu above, tell us what you need, and we will provide you with a great plan that best suits your dream vacations.
A quick message with your dates, group size, and whether you prefer calm bays or longer sails is enough to start. If you already know where you stay in Halkidiki, even better, because we can advise on the closest practical departure point and what that means for your day on the water.
If you’d like to explore the coast, ask us about day trips at sea and sailing boat options.
If you are a travel agent or yacht agent, please contact us to send you more information about becoming a regional representative.
We work with professionals who need consistent service, proper paperwork, and fast answers. If you are building packages in Northern Greece, we can support with route ideas, realistic durations, and boat selection that matches your client profile.
